Space STG Strategy Game

Since I’m currently on the topic of strategy games after my last post about Pocket Empires, I decided to post about Space STG, developed by Grzegorz Mackiewicz, which is also a real-time strategy game of the non-MMO variety. In this game you control fleets of space fighters, control planetary defense and economies while conquering other enemy planets.

The goal of this game is to gain control of all the planets and any other ‘quests’ that are given to you. You can build mines and factories for resources, research technology, build defense weapons and fighters to attack other planets. When you defeat an enemy you can capture and colonize the planet making it your own and begin building even more buildings on that particular planet.

Let me just mention this right now, read the in-game tutorial or the youtube movie tutorial (which I am also posting here on Droid Gamers) because if you don’t, such as I did, and jump right into the game, you won’t have much of an idea of what is going on for the first 5-10 minutes. Having played a ridiculous amount of games in my life, I at least had some sort of idea and began building right away.

You can set the difficulty as well so once you get good you can try the harder levels. There are some animated graphics in this game but for the most part it’s going through various menus all the time to accomplish what needs to be done. Even though this is a real-time game, it’s not persistent like Pocket Empires so you don’t need to worry about getting attacked when you aren’t playing.

There are a few negatives about this game though, one being there is absolutely no sound (that I know of anyways). Also, and this isn’t even mentioned in the Android market description which I find a bit misleading, it’s a demo version and the only way to get the full version is to buy an access code, via Paypal only, and insert the code into the game to unlock it, making it a full version game.

It’s a good game to kill time with, especially if you enjoy strategy games and don’t mind the lack of sound or great eye candy visuals.
