OpenFeint Comes To Android

The big news so far today is the announcement that OpenFeint will be coming to Android. OpenFeint is a social gaming network that enables developers to share leaderboards and achievements, buddy lists and other various social elements across various platforms such as iOS and now Android. This will also integrate Google Checkout and the release of Game Spotlight app.

Game Spotlight is a discover application to help people discover great and high quality games that can also be used on the OpenFeint network. The list of companies already on board is pretty impressive so far: Astraware, Digital Chocolate, Glu Mobile, Hudson Soft, ustwo, Pik Pok, Tastyplay.com and RocketCat games are all slated to have games released onto the Android market using OpenFeint.

Across all platforms the numbers are even more impressive with the current total being 9,200 strong, and includes 2,200 live games and over 28 million users.

Every day here at DroidGamers we see the tide turning more and more and this is just one more example showing Android as a viable and serious gaming platform. At this rate we will be seeing a lot of high quality games landing on the Android market before summers end hanks to partnerships such as this and everyone working together to bring great high quality games to Android devices everywhere.
