Gameloft issues apology for billing errors and hands out refunds

Earlier today reports were surfacing regarding people who recently purchased a game through Gameloft’s Android web store and ending up being double or triple charged for the transaction. For whatever particular reason, Gameloft still insists, even after this incident, to not use the Android Market for selling games.

Android and Me posted about this issue earlier today and have since asked what was going on. Eventually a short bit ago Gameloft responded and also issued a statement. The following is that statement:

Gameloft would like to apologize to those who were affected by the following situation on Gameloft’s Android store:

We spotted an issue in our billing process that affected 0.05% of all transactions on our stores in December. After having bought one game through a credit card, some customers were charged a second time under certain circumstances.

All customers who received extra charges will be automatically refunded for all related game charges directly to their credit card accounts, and will receive a free game credit.

This bug has been fixed today.

Again, we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience it might have caused some of our customers. If you need further assistance on Gameloft’s offer for Android please contact: [email protected]

According to Gameloft, this bug only hit a very minor amount of transaction for people buying Android games this month, 0.05% to be exact. I know a lot of poeple who come here to DroidGamers refuse to buy games from Gameloft until they are on the Android Market. Hopefully they will end up there at some point, especially with how the Android Market is improving as of late.

As for now though, if you have had this bug happen to you, let Gameloft know and they will refund all charges and give you a free game credit as well. On a side note, they did announce via Twitter that N.O.V.A 2 would be hitting the Android platform, of course not on the market and on ‘select devices’.

Hell we knew it was going to come to Android already anyways. Feel free to check out some of the game art from our previous post about N.O.V.A. 2. Perhaps we will also see more Android related stuff in their Advent Calender which has only so far been one thing, Dungeon Hunter HD for free and that had issues for people as well with downloading.
