It’s rare that Google launches a product or feature for something without that nasty ‘beta’ tag that has become Google’s signature (ehemm, Gmail). YouTube Leanback was fairly uninteresting to us before the Remote app launched on Android for various reasons, including control from the couch. Who wants to get up and change the video anyway?

I’m sure everyone was ready for the onslaught of Xperia Play news that was going to happen once the official announcement was made yesterday so here is yet another article about the Xperia Play. This time though it is just a list for everyone to use as reference so they know which carriers will be stocking it at release time.
Stuff you buy on the Playstation Network will not be transferable to the Xperia Play, in case you were curious.
While we didn’t think that this would be possible right off the jump or even at all, it is always good to get confirmation on these things. When it comes to the Xperia Play, anything you’ve bought or will buy on the Playstation Network, will not be transferable to the Xperia Play. This includes any retro Playstation One games.
GTA clones are nothing new to mobile platforms. Rockstar themselves have release quite a few for the Nintendo DS and Playstation Portable over the years with varying degrees of success. Back in January we broke the story that the FPse Playstation One emulator was heading to Android and that it would be available ‘in a few days’. We may be seeing the Mighty Eagle in the Android versions of Angry Birds very soon thanks to Rovio’s announcement today that their Bad Piggy Bank is now ready for global use. The Bad Piggy Bank is Rovio’s mobile payment system for carrier billing which will allow players to purchase the Mighty Eagle, among other things, and bill it to their phone bill.
AT&T seems to want to make things a little better for their Android users and are currently developing a social-gaming network they just announced today. Working with the crew over at OpenFeint, AT&T is developing a social-gaming community in which gamers will be able to against other people, keep track of high scores and more.
Fishlabs just announced that they will be releasing Galaxy of Fire 2 when the Xperia Play goes on sale to the public at the end of March 2011. While this game was developed for Tegra 2 devices, it seems as though the Xperia Play will be getting a version specifically for it that will take advantage of the controls that come with it.
Yesterday Sony Ericsson officially unveiled the Xperia Play Android gaming phone at MWC 2011 and so far everyone’s impression of it has been a positive one. While the phone will be available in early Spring, the initial selection of games that will be available for the Xperia Play is already looking fairly impressive.
