So, the year of 2012 is about to wrap up and the Mayans were wrong about everything coming to an end which was nice of them to be wrong. A lot has happened over the past year and we have continued to grow not only as a site but as a community as well here at DroidGamers. We’ve picked some great new staff such as Beau Hindman, Himmat Singh, Larry the Incredible Edible squirrel and more.
We’ve also worked hard to provide giveaways, plenty of Android gaming news, reviews and anything else we can dig up for all you Android gamers out there. Now that the curtain is closing on 2012 it is time to look forward to 2013. The first step for what we hope will be another great year was redesigning the entire site which we went live with yesterday but are officially announcing today.
This has been something we’ve been working on over the past few months with my anal retentiveness getting in the way multiple times. The main goal for this new design wasn’t just to freshen up the look for 2013 but to also provide a platform for expansion of the site since we have plenty of new features planned for this year. This new design also addresses one of the biggest requests we have had all year: to have a mobile friendly version of the site that doesn’t suck. Well, now you have one.
This design is completely responsive and will re-size and redesign itself depending on the mobile device you are looking at it on. Phones will see a more phone-centric design optimized for those screen sizes while tablet users will see a re-sized version of the site as well. You may also notice that the entire site is also wider on PCs through your browser as well and depending on your screen resolution there, it will also re-size itself.
Over the next couple of days we will be adding a few more goodies to the site such as a new poll system and other little things. After that we will be working on developing new community features and expanding greatly. We will also be more interactive as well. You’ll be able to hang out with us on TwitchTV where we will be streaming both Android games as well as PC games in our after hours shows (Just finishing up the schedule so people know when we are on and streaming). There will also be more tournaments this 2013 as well, official ones no less.
We will also be announcing what our other secret project is that we’ve been working on over the past few months as well this week. We are a bit nuts so you’ll be pleasant surprised as to what this is.
Lastly, we will be celebrating the launch of the site’s new look, the unveiling of our secret project and the beginning of the new year with some giveaways starting this week! Did you really thing we wouldn’t end this year and begin the next one without some?
