EA releases The Simpsons: Tapped Out on Android but you can’t download it just yet

Release a game onto Google Play but don’t let anyone download it right away. That little scenario has happened a few times in the past with other games such as Avengers Initiative which sat on the Google Play store dormant for a couple of months, with not a single person able to download it. Well EA has released The Simpsons: Tapped Out onto Android finally but no one seems to be able to actually download it just yet.

Currently the rather popular Simpsons game is available to everyone, everywhere except North America for some reason. In fact what probably has happened is EA uploaded the International version first and before uploading the North American version, they ended up finding some sort of bug in the game. This would also explain why people who do have access to the International version are not able to download it yet. EA tends to release games for both locations at the same time.

For those of you unfamiliar with this game, Simpsons: Tapped Out has players dealing with a rather interesting issue that has happened to Springfield. Due to free-to-play games with in-app purchases, Homer wasn’t paying attention to his job and ended up destroying Springfield with a nuclear blast. Your job is to re-assemble the town and find all the residents which also happen to be voice acted by the actual people who do the voice in the show.

The game also comes with short cinematic scenes to enjoy and while it takes jabs at free-to-play games with in-app purchase, The Simpsons: Tapped Out is a free-to-play game with in-app purchases for the in-game currency of ‘donuts’. Once EA gets themselves organized we should see this game made available for download to both North American and International Android devices. When that will happen is a different story and when it does, we will be sure to update everyone.
