It seems as though Wikipad and the folks at the company re a bit confused as to what they would like to do in regards to the gaming Android tablet they have been developing for what seems like forever and a day. Originally the Wikipad was not planned to be a 10″ Android gaming tablet until the company announced that it would instead be a 10″ gaming tablet. Now, Wikipad has announced that its Android gaming tablet will be a 7″ one that will retail for $250.
The tablet, regardless of size, will still sport the side-mounted physical gaming controls and the hardware is the same for this 7″ model as it was for the 10″ model minus the screen size itself.
For those of you curious, here are the specs for this tablet:
– 7″ screen running at 1280×800 resolution
– Android 4.1
– Tegra 3
– 1GB RAM
– 16GB storage along with microSD card slot
– 4,100 mAh battery
– 2MP front-camera
Interestingly enough, the physical controls look to have gotten a bit of a makeover as well and actually look much better and more functional then the older design. So why the change in size for the tablet again? Basically some flaws were found during production that couldn’t be fixed and so the decision was made to go back to 7″ in size.
So when can we expect to actually get our hands on a Wikipad? Well apparently we will be able to buy one for $250 sometime this Spring. Will that actually happen? We’ll have to wait and see. You can check out the press release below for further details.
