[Updated with download] Google starts officially rolling out their new UI for Google Play

Google has officially announced and begun rolling out the new design for the Google Play store application staring right now. Android phones and tablets running Android 2.2 or higher will at some point over the next week or so be receiving the new layout which, we must admit, looks pretty damn nice. Then again each new design iteration of the Google Play application has been a step in the right direction for the most part.

The entire layout has two key features which Google was wanting to emphasize with this new design: simplicity and visual. The design is meant to be more simple in terms of how it looks, more clean and smooth but also simplified in usage, making it easier to find what you are looking for even if it is just browsing through categories randomly for perhaps a new game or application.

Visually, when you get the updated user interface, you will see much bigger images. The visual improvements will be most noticeable in the entertainment based categories such as books, magazines and movies. Games and applications are already very visual when you’re looking at their listing. Also speaking of listings, they will now be continuous scrolling so it will keep on loading more items as you keep scrolling down.

Yet, with all the improvements that come with this new redesign of the Google Play store application, there is still one thing missing and that is the return of the ‘Just In’ section for games and applications, something Google removed awhile ago much to he dismay of just about everyone. Perhaps it will make its appearance once again in the future.
