Mojang shows off Minecraft: Pocket Edition’s new homescreen coming in the next update

While this might be the biggest addition to the upcoming 0.7.0 update for Minecraft: Pocket Edition, it is actually a pretty nice looking change. Mojang’s Johan Bernhardsson tweeted a picture of the new homescreen that will be coming with this new update and it is certainly a lot better looking than the current one is.

If you’ve been following our coverage of the upcoming 0.7.0 update then you should already be familiar with everything that is one the way. For those of you who haven’t been following the reports on the update’s features, here is a quick rundown of what to expect.

Minecraft Pocket Realms server launch for true multiplayer gameplay. This by itself entails a whole lot of features.

– The addition of Buckets, Milk and Cake

– New UI elements including a new options menu

– Player Skins (not 100% confirmed yet but will most likely arrive)

Now we can add on one more change and that is the new homescreen for when you load up Minecraft: Pocket Edition on your Android device. Definitely an improvement over what we have now don’t you think? For those of you wondering still as to when the update will arrive, it is still slated for the last week of April or the first week of May.

Also, for those of you who want to try and get an early invite to a Minecraft Realms server that is currently in closed beta testing, there is now an official thread for that over on the Minecraft forums. When Minecraft Realms launches with the arrival of the update, we will put up a thread on our forums as well for people who want to get whitelisted and be able to play on our servers.
