Fishlabs has been working on the next installment into their Galaxy on Fire franchise officially called Galaxy On Fire – Alliances. While the game was originally slated for release this year, Fishlabs has announced that the game’s release has been delayed until sometime in 2014. The game is, however, currently running in a closed beta testing phase and an open beta phase is slated to start in November.
If you missed our previous coverage regarding this game, Galaxy On Fire – Alliances will actually be an MMORTS title, breaking away a bit from the more Action-RPG style of the original games. This also means that besides being a massive multiplayer game on mobile it will be cross-platform compatible, so you will be able to play with your friends who till own iOS devices.
For those of you interested in the back story for Alliances, here’s the official snippet about how Alliances came to be:
The events of Alliances™ take place in a remote and hitherto unexplored part of the universe, where valuable resources and ancient artifacts are expected to be found. In order to gain access of these riches, the most powerful factions of the galaxy, namely the Terrans, Vossk and Nivelians, order their best commanders to build an outpost on that out-of-the-way star cluster and claim dominion to that yet-to-be-acquired sphere.
As with an RTS type of game you’ll have resource management to take care of, buildings to construct, military forces to build, technology to research and, of course, battle other players. You’ll be doing all of this in a full 3D rendered game.
While the game is delayed until 2014, the iOS version will be released in the early part of next year with the Android version to follow shortly afterwards. It will be free-to-play and if you want to sign up to try and get into either the currently running closed beta or the upcoming open beta, you can sign up through the game’s official website.
