Square Enix announces Final Fantasy Artniks Dive, a classic Final Fantasy game but F2P

While Square Enix may not be porting any more of the actual Final Fantasy games found on other platforms, at least not for the immediate future, that isn’t stopping the company for releasing spin-off games for the franchise. The newest one to be announced is Final Fantasy Artnik Dive, a classic style Final Fantasy game but one that incorporates a Free-to-Play business model and social gaming features.

The original Final Fantasy Artnik game was actually a TCG style of title. This version of the game will still contain cards to collect but will have a much more RPG style of gameplay to partake in. In fact the entire game actually looks and plays a lot like one of the original Final Fantasy games from way back in the day. Players will have the standard classes to pick from when starting out, a large world map to explore, turn-based combat when fighting enemies, and dungeons to explore.

On top of all that though, Final Fantasy Artnik Dive will have over 100 monsters you can summon into combat to help you out if you need it. This is most likely where the TCG aspects of the game come into play, collecting monster cards which you can use to summon during battle. There is also the whole free-to-play model and social gaming aspects brought into this version of the game as well.

What’s even more interesting is the fact that GREE is partnering up with Square Enix for this game which means all of those social gaming aspects and free-to-play features will more than likely run through Mobage. There is a pre-registration available for this game which is now live as well and anyone who does pre-registers (and invites a friend as well) will receive a Talisman accessory and the Ice Brand sword.

As for when this game will launch on Android, right now there is only a Summer time frame.
