If you have never played the excellent title Monument Valley from USTWO Games, now is the time to give it a try. The Amazon App Store has Monument Valley as the Free App of the Day. This deal only lasts 24 hours, so get it while you can. Monument Valley has received excellent reviews, and it is a beautifully rendered 3D puzzle game. The game currently costs $3.99 in the Play Store. The expansion to Monument Valley “Forgotten Shores,” has been released on iOS and it should make its way to Android soon.
[Update] November 20th, 10:55 AM-PST: If you were one of the lucky people that were able to download Monument Valley for free, when it was the Free App of the Day for 24 hours while on Amazon, I have good news for you. USTWO Games just sent out a tweet stating that “Forgotten Shores,” the expansion to Monument Valley, is available to download for those that purchased, or got the game for free in the Amazon App Store. Those that purchased the game through the Google Play store have to wait a little bit longer to be able to download the expansion. The expansion is $1.99. You should be able to purchase the downloadable content through the game. Let us know what you think of it!
Monument Valley is an amazing game! We haven’t seen anything quite like it, before its arrival. It has spawned many puzzle games since its release, that have successfully, or unsuccessfully, attempted to make use of illusion, as part of the main game play mechanic. There have been some complaints about the length of the game versus the price of the game. As gamers, I think we have gotten far to used to paying $.99 or less for a game. It is hard to put a price tag on enjoyment, or quality for that matter. In my opinion, I would rather pay for quality. The experience of the game lasts longer in your mind. I know this is a big debate, and it really depends on where you stand on this. However, right now, you can get the best of both worlds, if you download the game for free with Amazon.
Keep in mind, the expansion to the game, Forgotten Shores, will be paid downloadable content as well. Forgotten Shores has eight new levels and will be priced at $1.99. This too, has caused quite an uproar among some iOS gamers, and has resulted in some iOS gamers giving one star reviews in the Apple App Store. We know some gamers like to be heard, and one of the first ways this is done sometimes, is through reviews. With that being said, you cannot deny the quality of the game, and the time, USTWO Games put into their project. It shows from the intro scene, to the very ending… no matter how short.
Now is the time to experience Monument Valley, if you have not previously, at an excellent price. Games of this high-caliber are not free very often.
