The best new games to play on Android this week

Battle Bay

We’ve had a very space-themed week on Android – which is pretty fitting, given that Star Wars day was the centrepiece. We’re not complaining though, as the selection of best new games this week was pretty special.

The weekend has landed, and what better way to spend it than by checking all of them out. Rather than go hunting yourself, we’ve saved you the bother by sticking all of the best games in one place.

So sit back, put down the newspaper, and download a few of these games.

Best new games: Blitz Brigade: Rival Tactics

Blitz Brigade: Rival Tactics is heavily-inspired by Clash Royale. That’s immediately apparent as soon as you open the game, with you building a deck and fighting other players in real time. Almost all of the units are inspired by Supercell’s counterparts as well.

There are a few minor differences though. You play it horizontally, with an isometric viewing angle. The visuals are cartoon army-themed as well, which makes a slight difference.

If you fancy a slightly different spin on Clash Royale, and one of the best new games this week, grab Blitz Brigade: Rival Tactics from Google Play right now.

Race for the Galaxy

Race for the Galaxy is a digital adaptation of the critically acclaimed boardgame. You have to advance your space empire by playing cards strategically to settle new planets, make discoveries, and settle conflicts.

There’s no single route to success though. Much like in a typical strategy game, you’ll have to figure out the best approach to victory.

Her Majesty’s Spiffing

Her Majesty’s Spiffing is a point and click adventure parody of Star Wars. It tells a pretty relevant story of British Captain Frank Lee English who’s tasked with expanding the British Empire in space.

It’s chock full of humour and references. If you love classic adventure games, you should check it out right now on Google Play.

Spaceplan

Splaceplan is yet another Android game that launched this week themed on space expansion. This one’s a clicker though, and you’re in of a satellite orbiting a mysterious planet. To investigate it, you’ll click to launch potato-based devices and probes to figure out what’s going on.

It’s certainly one of the most interesting clickers out there, and certainly worth grabbing for sci-fi fans. It’s out now on Google Play.

Battle Bay

A Rovio game that doesn’t feature Angry Birds? Get right out of town. That’s what Battle Bay is though. It’s a five versus five ship battler that takes a lot of inspiration from World of Tanks, but places warfare on the high seas.

You battle in real time in a variety of different ships. You can upgrade them with new weapons, armour, items, and abilities, and then choose your battle style.

Want something to play with your friends? Go and grab Battle Bay from Google Play right now.

Gladiator Heroes

Last, but certainly not least, is a Clash of Clans-style build and battler themed on gladiators. You’ll do the usual city building, upgrading, and defending, but the battles are much more involved.

It’s also pretty gorgeous, with awesome 3D visuals that bring your town and gladiators to life. If you ever wished you were Maximus from Gladiator, grab Gladiator Heroes right now from Google Play.
