5 Android stories we missed on Droid Gamers

We do our best to keep you informed on everything at Droid Gamers, but Android stories inevitably fall through the cracks. There’s just so much going on.

In an effort to make sure you guys don’t miss out, we’ve pulled together the top stories we missed this week. What better way is there to spend your Sunday than reading it?

So put the kettle on, grab a blanket, and take a load off with these top Android stories.

The top 5 Android stories: Loads of stuff happened in Pokemon GO

You may have noticed that more grass type Pokemon were turning up in Pokemon GO. You’re right! A temporary event is running this weekend, which releases more of the green monsters into the wild.

Pokemon GO

If you live in a rural area, you may also have noticed more Pokemon generally. You’re not going crazy though, as Niantic released more of the critters in those areas.

Finally, Pokemon GO is about to get a little more social. Niantic has partnered with Knight Foundation to create a bunch of social events globally, that will encourage people to play together. That’s nice, and it’s what Pokemon GO is all about. Grab it right now on Google Play.

You can now play the card battler Faeria on your phone

Previously only available on tablets, Faeria has just been updated to work on your phone. So now nothing will get in the way of you having a quick battle.

We’ve had reports that it’s not working on every phone though – entirely in some cases, while it’s buggy in others. Check to see if your device is compatible before giving it a whirl. We imagine all bugs will be squished soon enough.

Grab Faeria on Google Play right now.

The Skullgirls mobile game entered soft launch

Skullgirls on mobile entered softlaunch in The Netherlands and Canada. It’s a 2D fighter with gorgeous anime visuals, a ton of characters to unlock and upgrade, and swipey tappy controls.

If you live in either territory, you can grab it right now. If not, you’ll need to set up a new account, or wait until the final release.

Google Play’s Top Developer program is coming to a close

You know that Top Developer badge you see splashed all over Google Play? That’s coming to a close soon, Google announced this week.

It’s not just disappearing entirely though. Google instead wants to celebrate top games, rather than developers. That makes sense. It could also suggest a massive overhaul to Google Play itself, or is that just wishful thinking?

A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Crosswords With Friends launched

We missed a couple of great games in our round up this week, so we’re going to highlight them here. A Midsummer Night’s Dream is a completely free RPG based on Shakespeare’s tale of the same name. And we mean completely free as well – check it out for yourself on Google Play.

A Midsummer Night's Dream

Next up is Zynga’s follow up to Words With FriendsCrosswords With Friends. It’s exactly what you expect – you get a daily puzzle to complete, and you can challenge your friends. The crosswords have been designed with a modern audience in mind as well. Check it out on Google Play.
