5 Android stories you should have read this week

The Legend of Zelda

Another week, another bunch of crazy happenings on Android. In terms of news though, this week in particular was very special.

Droid Gamers isn’t one to spoiler though, so sit back and ease yourself into Sunday with these top five stories you should have read this week.

An original Futurama short arrived to promote Worlds of Tomorrow

For the first time in four years, a brand new piece of Futurama arrived to the hungry masses. It’s only a minute in length, but boy does it bring back memories.

The short is here to promote the upcoming mobile game Worlds of Tomorrow, and apparently more will follow. Epic.

It took its sweet time, but Galaxy on Fire 3 finally launched on Android

We thought it would never happen, but this week it did – Galaxy on Fire 3 launched on Android.

It’s a bullet hell shooter in which you play as a space mercenary, and have to take on a bunch of contracts to earn cash. You then spend it on new ships or upgrades to help you take on tougher enemies and bosses.

The Legend of Zelda is coming to Android

This year was absolutely dominated by Zelda, thanks to Breath of the Wild, arguably the best title in the franchise’s history. The fact it launched alongside the Switch didn’t hurt either.

But that’s old news now. What got us all hot under the collar this week was the announcement of a mobile entry in the franchise. Apparently it will launch after Animal Crossing, and it could be out by the end of the year.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

We also saw some gameplay footage of the Zelda-inspired Oceanhorn 2

If Oceanhorn was mobile’s answer to Wind Waker, then the sequel could well be Breath of the Wild – judging from the gameplay footage released this week, that is.

There’s a more grown up looking hero, manually aimed ranged weapons, and a full on crafting system. At one point, the hero even scaled a wall covered in ivy.

Gameloft showed off live gameplay footage of the upcoming arena battler, Iron Blade

This week, Gameloft showed off an hour’s worth of live footage of Iron Blade, the upcoming arena battler inspired by Assassin’s Creed, the Arkham games, and Shadow of Mordor.
