9 new Android games you have to play this week

Shadow Fight 2 - Special Edition Android

It’s that time of the week again, when we run you through the best Android games that came out right in time for the weekend. Aren’t we nice!

Make no mistake, this isn’t a standout week by any means – likely due to Gamescom looming over everyone’s shoulders. Still, there’s plenty here to keep you busy over the weekend.

The best new game on Android this week: Shadow Fight 2: Special Edition

Shadow Fight 2: Special Edition is the ultimate version of one of mobile’s best fighting games. It’s a premium re-release of the original, that removes free to play trimmings like ads and the energy system.

There’s also a whole new chapter as well, to give those who played the free version a reason to come back. If that’s you, go ahead and grab it from Google Play right now.

Puzzle Bobble Journey

Puzzle Bobble Journey is a brand new bubble shooter by the creators of the genre. If you’ve played one before, you’ll know what to expect. Match three bubbles to pop them, use power ups to get a high score.

But this is based on the franchise that started it all, so it’s a nice little walk down memory lane. It’s also incredibly polished, with gorgeous visuals and a decent challenge. Go and grab it on Google Play.

Martial Arts Brutality

Martial Arts Brutality may have the most self-explanatory title ever. It’s a turn-based tactical card battler that challenges you to dish up some vicious pain on your opponents.

There are a bunch of technique cards to collect and upgrade, and you can watch the damage you inflict play out in real time. Go and grab it right now on Google Play to control your Chi.

Danger Mouse: The Danger Games

The Danger Games is a brand new card battling racer featuring your favourite secret agent mouse. You’ll build a deck of tech cards then race against other players in multiplayer, foiling their attempts to win.

These tech cards include fun stuff like the Shrinkatizer, Carrot Rocket, and the Danger Car. You’ll not only use these to put off opponents, but to avoid obstacles as well. Grab it right now on Google Play.

Battlejack

Battlejack combines – you guessed it! – the fast paced combat of an RPG with Blackjack. You’ll collect hundreds of hero cards, build a deck of your favourites, and then head into a game against a real opponent.

Here’s where it’s like Blackjack. You play cards and try and get close to 21. Hit it, or have a higher score than your opponent without going over, and your heroes will receive a boost. Fail to or go over, and you’ll get punished. Grab it right now on Google Play.

Little Red Lie

Little Red Lie is an interesting narrative adventure that challenges you to overcome the various challenges by lying your way out of them. It’s set in a dark dystopian universe where the protagonist is trying to overcome poverty.

If you like games like Papers, Please, then this is one for you. Go and grab it on Google Play right now.

Flippy Hills

Flippy Hills is a physics-based arcade game in which you have to help a chicken complete a bunch of difficult assault courses.

That’s as simple as tapping to flip the chicken over obstacles like spinning saws and planks of wood. Make a mistake though, and the chicken will face a brutal death. Grab it on Google Play.

Hipster Sheep

Hipster Sheep is this week’s oddest release. You basically have to complete maze-like jigsaw puzzles to help a sheep navigate a level, grabbing gold along the way. There are also obstacles and nasty wolves to avoid.

You’ll then spend your money on clothes for your sheep to dress them up as the ultimate hipster. It’s random but the visuals are cute, and it does pose a challenge. Grab it on Google Play.

Pixel Punchers

Remember Punch-Out!!Pixel Punchers clearly aims to emulate that. It’s a simple boxing gaming in which you dodge and punch in a variety of directions, trying to outsmart your opponent.

There’s a career mode to complete, over 20 fighters to unlock, and a quick fight with a bunch of different difficulty levels. Go and grab it right now on Google Play.
