Grimms Notes is a Square Enix RPG with fairytale characters, and it’s coming to the West

Grimms Notes

Squeenix loves a mashup. Following the success of its Kingdom Hearts series, in which it dropped various Disney characters into an action role-playing universe, it released Grimms Notes in Japan in 2016.

This time it was fairytale characters receiving the transplant treatment, with timeless protagonists like Little Red Riding Hood, Aladdin, Cinderella, and others wielding magical powers and hitting goons with swords. Apparently, its main selling points are its pretty graphics (all the better to see you with) and its simple controls (all the better to kill you with).

Grimms Notes has amassed an impressive 15 million downloads in Japan, and now a localisation to the West is underway courtesy of Flero Games. There’s no concrete release date, but you can expect to play Grimms Notes – and see what all the fuss is about – fairly soon.
