This week’s round-up contains two of the best games of the year. The catch? They’re not on Android yet. Yes, this is the round-up equivalent of a holding pattern, with plenty to anticipate but not that much to enjoy right now.
There are updates and new games on the way, but in the meantime you’ll have to satisfy yourself with freebies and bargains.
Pocket Mortys will get 50 new characters from Season 3 in its next update
Pocket Mortys – the Rick & Morty spinoff game that parodies Pokemon Go while also being very good Pokemon Go-style game in its own right – has been updated regularly since it first appeared.
However, the next update will be particularly generous, with 50 new characters from season 3 of the show joining the fray. Teacher Rick, Working Class Rick, and Street Loco Morty are among the new additions.
We don’t know when it’s going to drop, though, so stay tuned.
Remember remember, Monument Valley 2 is coming to Android on 6th November
iOS gamers have had Monument Valley 2 to themselves for too long. Thankfully, the fightback begins on November 6th, when the game will finally be available on Google Play.
Monument Valley 2 is the sequel to one of the most celebrated mobile games of recent years. Ustwo’s Escher-esque puzzler was such a hit when it came out that got a namecheck on House of Cards.
The sequel is every bit as good.
Death Road to Canada will complete its long march to Android on October 26th
Speaking of excellent games that are available on iOS but not Android, violating the human rights of millions of smartphone owners, Death Road to Canada finally has a release date on Android.
This pixel-art collaboration between celebrated indie studios Madgarden and Rocketcat Games see you travelling across North America during a deadly zombie apocalypse. It’s one of the best games of the year, and it’ll cost $9.99.

The latest Humble Mobile Bundle celebrates the output of Russian developer Herocraft.
You may not have heard of Herocraft. It’s not the most glamorous studio. But it’s been plugging away since long before touchscreen gaming was a thing, and it knows how to put together a good game.
