AQuizMatics is a mobile matching puzzler that just might teach you something

We’ll be honest with you: AQuizMatics isn’t quite as innovative as it looks. You may not have played anything like it yourself, but grizzled old veterans like us have fond memories of something very similar in the form of Big Top 10, an early iOS puzzler that disappeared from the App Store long ago.

The aim in Big Top 10 was to draw a line through numbers on a grid until they added up to ten. It was simple, ingenious, and highly addictive. AQuizMatics has the same basic gameplay, and we’re glad to see it return to the world.

Do the math

However, AQuizMatics doesn’t stop at ten, or limit itself to Big Top 10’s template. Some levels ask you to make 12, while others want you to work out for yourself how many to make by solving a sum. Others challenge you end several chains with the same number, and so on.

There are two different modes. Normal tasks you with getting a certain number of sums right within a certain number of moves, while Timed does the same but adds a timer to the mix, ramping up the tension.

AQuizMatics is a great one-touch casual puzzler, but the thing we really love about it is that it’s designed for the classroom as well as the waiting room/bus stop/toilet.

AQuizMatics – actually fun

As every parent and educator knows, the best way to teach children stuff is to make learning fun. And Aquizmatic isn’t just fun in the lame, unconvincing way that most educational apps are supposed to be fun. It’s ACTUALLY fun, in the way that Big Top 10 was fun.

Better still, it’s fun in the way that Big Top 10 would have been if it had even more modes and gameplay styles.

Whether you’re a parent, a teacher, or just a person who enjoys a good one-touch puzzler, you can grab AQuizMatics on Google Play or the App Store for free right now. The game also has a Facebook page you should check out.
