According to Valve, the Source 2 engine works on mobile

Valve Android

TouchArcade recently visited the Valve offices to check out CCG Artifact, but walked away with a much more interesting story. It turns out that the Steam developer has managed to get the Source 2 engine running on mobile.

What does that mean for us mobile gamers though? Well, that more Valve games might make it onto Android! We already know that Dota 2 works on mobile, though Valve isn’t happy about the control scheme.

Valve has the Source 2 engine working on mobile

Right now, only three games work in the Source 2 engine. That’s Dota 2Artifact, and The Lab. Not an incredibly inspiring list, but given that Valve has already ported Dota 2, we might see others make the cut.

We’d love to see the likes of Counter-Strike: Global OffensivePortal, and Left 4 Dead come to mobile. The latter in particular could have a new lease of life on our phones, as you could just play with friends locally no matter where you are.

What would you like to see come to mobile? Would you play it safe and go for Dota 2? Or go all in and predict Half Life 3 as an exclusive mobile title? Hey, we can dream!
