Forget Flappy Bird, Sprint Hero is your next high score chasing obsession

Remember Flappy Bird, that game you and everyone else in the world was obsessed with a few years ago? Well, forget about it because there’s a new sheriff in town: Sprint Hero.

Sprint Hero is equally as challenging, which was always the primary draw of Flappy Bird. Rather than simply tap to remain airborne as you traverse a series of Mario-esque pipes, here you have to run, jump, and slice fruit.

Sounds simple? Well, it is in a way. All you have to do is tap and hold to sprint, then release at the right moment to hopefully leap a gap and land on a platform. If you’re successful, you’ll slice a variety of fruit from a tree and increase your score. Fail though, and you’ll tumble into the icy abyss and have to start all over again.

Sprint Hero indeed

Timing is absolutely crucial here, and it can be really tricky at times. The problem is, your character gains in pace as it sprints, so you have to take that into account when releasing to jump. If you do it too early, you won’t make it. Do it too late, and you’ll shoot over the gap.

It also doesn’t help that the higher your score, the more difficult the jumps you have to make. You won’t find it easy to get a high score, or beat your own or a friend’s.

But that’s where the obsession comes in. It’s just so easy to dive into and try again, and as you get closer to beating a score you’ll just want to have one more go. Then another. Oh, and why not one more?

Sprinting emotions

It helps that it’s a pretty little game too. It’s set in a variety of different gorgeous landscapes, from snowy icebergs to scolding hot deserts – and pretty much everything in between!

If you’re not sold already, check out the intriguing trailer that developer Pham My Man has put together. It depicts all of the different emotions you’ll feel while playing the game, and you’ll notice that the player just doesn’t want to stop.

So head on over to Google Play right now to check out Sprint Hero. Just don’t blame us if you become so hopelessly addicted you have to check into video game rehab. It’s also on the App Store.
