Hole in one! Golfing MMO Shot Online Golf: World Championship is available worldwide

With Tiger Woods in the midst of an heroic comeback and President Donald Trump taking to the fairways on an hourly basis, golf has never been hotter–and it’s about to get hotter still with the international launch of Shot Online Golf: World Championship.

This unique golfing MMO from Korean developer Webzen has been around since 2004, when it arrived on PC as a free download. Since then the franchise has undergone countless revisions and upgrades, amassing an army of dedicated players along the way.

Shot Online Golf: World Championship is arguably the biggest upgrade yet, taking Shot Online away from its comfort zone on PC and into the brave new world of mobile.

Ace effort

The game has been available in soft launch for several months, but players in the USand Europe were excluded from the party. All that changed on April 2nd, when Shot Online Golf: World Championship finally got an international launch.

For the uninitiated, the game sees you taking to the fairways for a variety of different tasks and challenges involving other players from all around the globe.

The Betting Challenge involves competing in 1v1 matches against human opponents in real time. If you win, you double your stake. If you lose, you kiss your money goodbye. Win enough times and you’ll be able to start betting bigger amounts, literally upping the ante on every shot.

If you want to play against another human but can’t cope with the pressure of betting, you can indulge in a Short Game. These involve taking on other players in ranked contests to hit the longest drive, land the ball closest to the pin, and sink a putt.

Then there’s the Academy, where you can enjoy a relaxing single-player round on a variety of beautiful courses, collecting rewards, unlocking new sections, and toppling bosses.

Shot Online Golf: World Championship is absolutely packed with clubs and clothes to earn and upgrade, as well as skills to acquire and master. It looks great, too, and it arrives with a ready-made community of fellow virtual golfers.

Download it for free on Google Play (and the App Store) right now.
