Why you should play Animal Crossing-like QubeTown on mobile

The problem with living in the real world is that you have to deal with dreary stuff like drizzle, litter, stress, boredom, and other people.

That’s why we try and spend as much time as we can in cosy virtual worlds like QubeTown, an adorable Animal Crossing-style life sim from developer Arumgames. Like its celebrated Nintendo counterpart it sees you building a town and rubbing shoulders with a cast of adorable characters – and it throws a few new elements into the mix too.

Naturally, cubes are the order of the day. QubeTown has a stylish, distinctive aesthetic made up of flat planes, a bit like Tearaway on PS Vita. Every tree, animal, building, plant, and character looks like a multicolored origami model.

Your main goal is to create, maintain, and grow a town for these characters and animals to live in.

You’ll have to roll up your sleeves and turn your hand to everything from decorating your homestead to harvesting crops, before turning these crops into baked goods and desserts and trading them.

Naturally, there’s a lot more to the game than running an agribusiness and catering empire. You’ll also head out on expeditions into the forest and the mine, with your trusty friends in tow to keep you company.

And you’ll have to protect your town from the evil trolls and the deadly kraken, who turn up from time to time to make your life miserable. This gives you an incentive to collect as many characters and heroes as possible, to help fend off these inconvenient attacks.

QubeTown is available now on Google Play (and the App Store), and to celebrate its launch publisher Webzen is holding a coupon event. To take advantage of this offer, click here and enter the code DOWNLOADQUBETOWN to net a cool 20 Rubies.
