Now that Vainglory has grown long in the tooth, it’s about time for another seminal MOBA to come to mobile. And here it is.
Battle Arena: Heroes Adventure (or BAHA for short) is a new action-RPG MOBA from developer Red Brix Wall. It sees you building a team of heroes and setting out to destroy endless hordes of human and AI opponents in finely honed MOBA extravaganza.
Let’s start with the team stuff. There are more than 50 heroes to choose from, including a furious gnome berserker, a deadly robot from the future, and a killer elf. As you can tell, it’s an eclectic mix, with a diverse array of distinctive, beautifully rendered heroes.
Enter the Battle Arena
Each hero has its own strengths, weaknesses, and special abilities, complete with goals, meaning you have to choose your team carefully to create a perfect balance of skills for every scenario. As you play your heroes will level-up, and you can distribute skill points as you see fit.
The emphasis is on good tactics, though, and a canny player who picks a well-balanced team and uses their abilities wisely will triumph over a clumsy higher level player every time.
You can put your skills to the test against other players in the PvP Arena, where you’ll be able to to take on other humans in real time. The arena is divided into different levels of difficulty, so you can always choose whether to stay in your comfort zone or push yourself with more experienced opponents.
From zero to hero
BAHA has its own well-populated clan system, and naturally you can choose whether to join one of these clans (probably a sensible step when you’re just starting out) or create a clan of your own. Being in a clan is great not just for the gameplay rewards, but because it’s a good way to find friends to train and socialise with.
Outside the multiplayer gameplay there are plenty of single player activities to keep you busy. The campaign takes you through several colourful worlds, from forests to distant planets, each of which has its own terrain and enemies to contend with, and there are some super-challenging boss battles that demand total focus and tactical mastery.
The campaign is a great way to gather useful items and hone your skills for the PvP Arena, but it’s also a lot of fun in its own right.
It’s also well worth mentioning the alliance clan events. These see heroes sharing with other alliance members, and also boast battle replays. They’re a great place to meet new players and forge new friendships.
