Cute cult cat-collect-em-up Neko Atsume coming to VR in 2018

2014’s cat-based casual superhit Neko Atsume has already generated spin-offs galore, including plush toys, events, and a forthcoming movie. And now, according to PlayStation Japan President Atsushi Morita at the Tokyo Game Show, it’s coming to VR as well.

For the uninitiated, Neko Atsume gives you a little cartoon home and lets you buy toys, furniture, and food in order to attract little cartoon cats with names like Chairman Meow, Saint Purrtrick, and Joe DiMeowgio.

Those so-bad-they’re-good puns are only available in the English version, of course, and nobody currently knows whether the VR version of Neko Atsume will be available in English.

Nor do we know exactly what VR platforms it’s coming to, though PlayStation VR seems a pretty safe bet. Given the game’s mobile origins we think it’s reasonably likely that it will come to mobile VR too, but that’s speculation.

In any case, Neko Atsume fans in Japan and possibly (probably) elsewhere can look forward to surrounding themselves with little cats in some form of virtual reality in 2018.
