A surprise update has brought the Vampire Survivors Android port we all wanted. The super-addictive indie gem is now available on Google Play in its full glory.

Everything the PC version has, the Vampire Survivors Android port has, and it’s playable for free with ads.

This will be devastating news for anyone who was hoping to be productive today. The compulsion to grab your phone and start killing demons is going to be a hard one to put off until the weekend.

An Instant Classic That’s Simple, But Not Easy

Vampire Survivors is a game that is pretty simple in its concept. All sorts of ghosts and ghouls have crawled out of hell. There are thousands of them, and they’re going to kill you. How long that takes, and how many you take down with you, all depends on how well you play.

Staying alive in Vampire Survivors is easy to learn, but hard to master. Controls are very simple. All you need to do is move your character around the map, while attacking happens automatically.

You earn gems from killing enemies, and you use the gems to level up and pick from a list of randomised buffs. Killing bosses lets you evolve your weapons into more powerful forms – you’ll need them, too.

The Game Every Indie Dev Wants To Make

It’s one of the most compelling timesinks known to man, though Vampire Survivors is also an amazing indie success story. The game was developed by solo developed Luca Galante, also known as Poncle.

Poncle created the game with a small budget, but this hasn’t stopped it immediately capturing the attention of gamers. It goes to show that high-fidelity graphics are no substitute for a solid loop.

Due to the runaway success of Vampire Survivors, Poncle has grown into a small but fully-fledged studio, which is probably one of the reasons we get nice surprises like the Vampire Survivors Android port.
