Not much is known at present about this game since all we have is a teaser trailer for the time being, aside from, well, its title. Gangstar Vegas is the next game in the Gangstar franchise (Gameloft's take on Rockstar's GTA formula). As for release date, the teaser just mentions a nebulous "coming soon".

If you told me about this pre-Dungeon Hunter 4, I would be excited.  But after how much of a freemium-laden game Dungeon Hunter 4 became, and their apparent stance toward IAP , not to mention how dependent on IAP Gangstar Rio was, I'm going to anticipate this release with a grain of salt.

Wait, Rio is a premiumly priced game. You mean even then it is heavily biased towards IAPs? Sad man. The GL game that I found to be the worst in this aspect is wild blood, but I never played rio though.

I've played Miami on my Galaxy S2, and Rio on (for about 15 minutes) on a friend's phone and I have to say - they REALLY need to work on the controls...not sure why, but they always feel weird to me, where as GTA 3/VCity's controls felt pretty "natural"...maybe they should start focusing on rippong off controls, I think we all would actually appreciate that more than graphical improvements.

Unless they rebalanced the item prices in an update, it was extremely hard to get enough money in Gangstar Rio to buy much of anything without paying real money for in-game cash.  And this was on top of the fact that the game cost $7 to begin with.

Edit:  looking at the latest user reviews for G:R, there seems to be no more complaints about item prices anymore.  I don't know if it's due to the fact that the latest update rebalanced item prices or that the focus of the complaints has shifted from item prices to stability problems.  I can't confirm this, since the update broke compatibility with my TF300 (despite the fact that the game ran smoothly on it before the update), and I'm trying to keep massive games like this off my 16 GB Nexus 7.

Didn't they say Rio was to be the last of the Gangstar series? I was pretty sure they were not going to make any more of those type games. I guess that was not true or they lied.

...for some reason I imagine them adding IAP "cheats"...like you're running away from a billion cops, you open the menu screen and buy a "remove cops from my back" consumable...I wouldn't be surprised lol

If it was EA, you would have to wait 5 minutes for the "cheat" to be delivered, and hope you don't get caught by then.

The game will be a paymium title, i.e. have a premium price-tag but contain IAPs as well. As reported by 148Apps.

...somehow I'm not surprised...expect the same price as their current games, which is 5.99€ (I guess that's like...$7-$8?), along with IAPs for up to $100 per pack.

Gameloft has released the first dev diary. I must say, the graphics do look good!

Yeah, the graphics is realy good, (I love those flares)... I really hope that the driving experience will be much better, because the previous gangstar is not that good in terms of driving, I don't know if that's only me because GTA's driving is very different... In terms of steering and skidding and car's physics, GTA is much better. But I really hope that this one will have a better physics engine because it was mentioned on the dev diary... But the size of the area, which is 9x bigger than Rio, will really make a difference, especially in terms of exploration because that's what I do most of the time. :)

Edit: So, they'll be using Havoc engine... Did they already use it before in Rio? If I'm not mistaken its MC4 which have that engine...

If I'm not mistaken, MC4 was the first GL game to use Havoc. That'd mean they didn't use Havoc in Rio. But if you don't know already, Havoc is not a graphics engine...it is a physics engine.

Yeah, I know its a physics engine, which gives some nice ragdoll physics on MC4...

So, this will definitely bring nice physics to Gangstar Vegas too...

(Just saw it on pocketgamer.)

Does this new engine have graphics settings (like how Wild Blood and Dungeon Hunter 4 do)?

MC4 didn't have graphics setting and it runs on this. But the engine shouldn't have a graphics settings since it is a physics engine.

On a separate note, this just went live on iTunes. Costs $6.99 and has a download size of 1.4GB. It's claiming to have a map size 9x that of the previous game in the series. Gameloft is saying this should land "very soon" on Google Play.

Gameloft mentioned on their Facebook page that Gangstar Vegas is coming to Android this coming week. Could land on any day basically...

...I'd say I'm looking forward to it, but I went on and sold my soul for the Anomaly Humble Weekly Sale (best purchase ever!), so I'm not checking it out on launch for sure XD
