ngmoco's Skyfall RPG for Android private beta now live

Back in November 2011 we got to get some hands-on time with ngmoco's upcoming RPG called Skyfall. At that point it was also gearing up for a closed beta round of testing which we gave away 500 invites for. Now the beta is going to a live Private Beta status.

When we did our hands-on of Skyfall back in November 2011, we posted a pretty detailed initial impression regarding the game. For those of you who missed the article though and don't know what Skyfall is, here is the quick description about the game.

Skyfall is an RPG with a lot of unique gameplay mechanics. For one thing, you move around the maps by tapping on the screen on tiles you want to explore. All the maps are broken up into tiles and monsters and treasure are randomly placed throughout the maps. When you tap on a tile, if you tap on a monster or an event, you are taken to a new screen depending on what you've encountered. There are also dungeons where you will have quests you need to complete inside them.

Combat is turn-based so you will be going back and forth in attacks between you and whatever monster(s) you are dealing with at the time. Skyfall also features a similar style of 'multiplayer' that is found in games like Gun Bros. where you can take a friend's character with you when you go into dungeons to help you out. There is actually a lot more detail to the game than what is mentioned here so if you are interested in it, you should definitely check out our initial impressions on Skyfall as we go into a fair amount of detail about the game.

ngmoco, however, has moved announced that the beta, even though it is labelled as a private beta, is now live and anyone with a supported device can join in. These devices are Samsung Galaxy S2, Samsung Galaxy S, Samsung Nexus S and the HTC EVO 4G. All the instructions and the game download are available on the beta page for Skyfall which is linked below. More devices may be added to the list at some point. The game is set to be release onto the Android Market sometime in the next couple of weeks.
