We’ve had the poll up for days now and the results are in! Before we go on, I’d like to state that 2011 was officially the best year in mobile gaming. Despite its ups and downs , we’ve finally reach the first step in quality gaming with caliber titles such as Modern Combat 3, Riptide GP and Dead Space.

With all the good news and great games that have come our way this year we have also had our fair share of stories that didn't pan out for whatever reason, whether it was a rumor that turned out to be a flop or a game developer changing their minds five times about a game that was going to come to Android. It is time to take a look back over the past year and enjoy the humorous side that is mobile gaming.

Top Five Graphically Awesome Games of 2011 for Android

2011 was a big year for Android. NVDIA’s Dual Core processor, Tegra 2 was introduced, Honeycomb Tablets flooded the market and Ice Cream Sandwich brought phone and tablets together under one roof. However this wasn’t the only thing that made this year memorable.

So we have been busy compiling a list of the best games to land on Android this year in various gaming genres such as RPG, FPS, RTS, Action, Puzzle and so on. The problem is there have been quite a few excellent games that have landed on our beloved OS that it is incredibly hard to pick one as Game of the Year.

The annual Golden Joystick Awards have now opened up voting for the best of the best when it comes to gaming. While you can head over there and vote for your favorite MMORPG or perhaps your favorite FPS game, for all of us mobile gamers out there, it is the Mobile Gaming category we look at.

Android Gaming Challenge (AGC#2) gaming tournament registration is now open!

Well we had to delay the sign-ups for AGC#2 a couple of days while we worked on getting the new site design completed and live but the delay is now over. We are pleased to announce that registration is now open for AGC#2! Start doing those finger stretches now, you don't want to pull a muscle.

AGC2 is coming. Starts June 13th with sign-ups starting May 25th. Are you ready?

Earlier this year we mentioned that the second Android Gaming Challenge was on the way. A lot of people have been waiting for this to start and now the wait is almost over. We here at DroidGamers are happy to announce the official AGC#2 sign-up and starting date as well as give you a peek into the prizes.

Hero Mages - A hidden gem of a game developed by D20Studios

D20Studios developed a little game you have probably never heard of or even seen. Called Hero Mages, it just won at the indiePUB awards for Technical Excellence. Table-top RPG fans will probably enjoy this the most although anyone who likes turn-based strategy games or RPGs could also appreciate this neat little title.

IGF Adds Android Platform

There is no question that gaming on the Android platform has come a long way since Android came out onto the mobile market. Even though it has a decent way to go before it becomes the dominate platform for mobile gaming, more and more festivals and conferences are adding Android to their platform roster and IGF is the newest one to do so.
