If you've ever wondered where the flood of video game Kickstarter campaigns began, it would be a good idea to start with Double Fine Adventure. Even though Double Fine Adventure was not the first video game to seek funding through Kickstarter, it was the first game that showed it is possible to raise over $3 million by appealing directly to fans. The Kickstarter campaign is long over, but there's still an opportunity to make a donation and get the game for Android. Like a middle child, mobile games are constantly vying for our attention. Every week there is a new shipment of mobile games propping themselves on our desks and demands to be played. While we do have dedicated reviewers, sometimes the games can be just as engaging as reviewing your W-2 forms. With the tsunami of new games every week we find our selves repeatedly drowning at the staggering amount of games. It's been awhile since we dropped a Hidden Gem article in your laps. It isn't that there hasn't been any games suitable for a Hidden Gem article, it is just that there are so many great games to play we get all caught up in playing them. We were told to check out iDaTank by Ubinuri and so far it is a great game. Yesterday we talked about a game called Burn Your Fat With Me which was a dating sim game that also made you work out in real life in order to progress through the game. In the comments we mentioned that it would be cool if there were more games that were not just video games on your Android device but also interacted with you in some form in real life. Yes, we know. I've read all your messages and we do apologize for missing out on our weekly feature. However, we've more than made up by upping the normally two a week games to six. So if you've been dying to know what's been getting some face time on our mobile phone, look no further than Droidgamers: Game's We're Playing The Last Two Weeks One game a lot of people have been waiting for lately happens to be from Phosphor Games called The Dark Meadow. This game has been in the news a lot lately, especially after receiving 'The Pact' update on iOS. Well after waiting all this time, we get to grab both the original and 'The Pact' all at once as of right now. Good news for all you Leisure Suit Larry fans out there that were sitting on the edge of your seats hoping its Kickstarter project would be successfully funded. It is now officially funded and still has about 6 days to go. This also means it will indeed be coming to Android along with a plethora of other platforms. Originally released back in 1991, Another World (a.k.a Out of this World) was a rather unique game at the time which ended up creating quite the cult following for the title. Recently DotEmu brought Another World over to Android to celebrate its 20th Anniversary but if you haven't picked it up yet, now is a good time. The Oregon Trail, a game from back in the day that is still popular and has had many revamps and spin-offs over the years, now has a new indie game development team working on a title which will pay homage to this classic. Currently being developed by a team calling themselves The Men Who Wear Many Hats, this new game will be filled with zombies and pixel art. The Leisure Suit Larry franchise is one that just won't stay down. Larry's first game called Leisure Suit Larry in the Land of the Lounge Lizards is probably older than some of you that are reading this. It's that kind of nostalgia that is fueling a Kickstarter campaign to remake the original game for multiple platforms. Sega last week released eleven Sega Genesis console titles onto OnLive for people to enjoy, two games today and have even more planned for the future as well. While most OnLive users on Android won't be able to play these using a touch screen, Xperia Play owners and gamers who have the Universal Remote gamepad will be able to enjoy these games. Android has seen no shortage of Role Playing Games. From popular tittles such Zenonia to something less conventional such as Battleheart, its safe to say that level grinding on the go has reached new heights. Indie developers have also taken strides into the genre by fusing comedic elements into the script such as previous mentioned tittles. While not necessarily reaching new grounds, Digital Tales hopes to expand the genre with their latest release, Battleloot Adventure. Back in October of last year we talked about a neat looking indie game coming from Honey Tribe Studios called Ashley Ao. This particular game is an anime inspired sci-fi adventure game that has a hand-painted graphical feel to it. Now we get to see more of the gameplay that will come with this game in a new trailer. After the huge success the first Humble Bundle for Android had, the second one is now available and comes with five games that have not been released onto Android as of right now. One title is the highly sought after Canabalt from Adamatoic (now with a 2 player mode). Remember we were talking about this game awhile back? Seems they decided to bring it to Android after all. |
