Imagine this: Gameloft releases a brand new trailer for Modern Combat, Modern Combat 6: World War Space, and suddenly you find yourself brimming with sweat and your mouth strangely dry.The graphics induce uncontrollable eye twitching and that new gameplay mode renders your jaws grounded and mopping the floor (while knowing touchscreen control is terrible, but you’ll play it anyway). 2011 has made its way out and 2012 is now officially in full swing. With any new year there is always the prospect of changes on the horizon for everyone whether it is through New Years Resolutions or just the idea of something different. A lot of shake up has happened in both the tech world and game industry recently. We’ve had the poll up for days now and the results are in! Before we go on, I’d like to state that 2011 was officially the best year in mobile gaming. Despite its ups and downs , we’ve finally reach the first step in quality gaming with caliber titles such as Modern Combat 3, Riptide GP and Dead Space. With all the good news and great games that have come our way this year we have also had our fair share of stories that didn't pan out for whatever reason, whether it was a rumor that turned out to be a flop or a game developer changing their minds five times about a game that was going to come to Android. It is time to take a look back over the past year and enjoy the humorous side that is mobile gaming. So we have been busy compiling a list of the best games to land on Android this year in various gaming genres such as RPG, FPS, RTS, Action, Puzzle and so on. The problem is there have been quite a few excellent games that have landed on our beloved OS that it is incredibly hard to pick one as Game of the Year. We just can't help but keep rolling out the free stuff this holiday season. We have teamed up with Mobage to offer anyone who has an account and plays Mobage enabled games a chance to win free MobiCoin which is the in-game currency used to buy extra items and power-ups in their games among other things. One thing a lot of you, our readers, have been asking for is an official app for the site. Actually you've been asking as far back as last year. Well we are pleased to announce that we have just released the beta version of our app onto the Android Market. At the same time we have also been published on Google Currents! Once again it is time to start a new giveaway as a new day has started. So far we have given away a Galacy 10.1 Tegra 2 tablet and a Galaxy 8.9 Tegra 2 tablet. Today we are giving away a Sony S Playstatoin certified Tegra 2 tablet and a Cradle Station to one lucky winner. Want to learn how to enter? Keep reading! Moving right along in our week of craziness while we countdown the last few days before Christmas, this is Day 2 and as with any new day, new things come your way. Today's giveaway is a Samsung Galaxy 8.9" 16GB dual-core Android tablet and to win it you barely have to do anything which is always nice isn't it? We dropped a few hints that this week would be a little crazy here at DroidGamers. Starting with the Modern Combat 3 giveaway and now working up for our Christmas Countdown giveaways where we will give away an Android Tegra 2 tablet every day starting today and ending with the last one on Friday. Today's tablet is a Samsung Galaxy 10.1 16GB tablet! There have been a lot of people waiting for the new addition into the Modern Combat series of games from Gameloft to be released and today is the official day of release for Modern Combat 3: Fallen Nation. We have to admit, we sort of fibbed everyone when we said we didn't know when it would be released, there is a good reason though! This is my first aritcle that's not a game review, so bare with me while I find my feet. Recently I've been thinking about where gaming on android is headed. Now when the Tegra 2 chipsets hit a vast array of devices, a lot of people weren't too happy as it was thought it would add to the fragmentation that already exists in Android. With the advent of mobile gaming, developers are slowly releasing games that eclipses most console titles. Nintendo and Sony’s portable devices such as the 3ds and PlayStation Portable are currently taking hits from mobile devices. Androids and iOS are taking larger bites from their market shares every year. Android and iOS are slowly overtaking the portable gaming field. Phandroid just posted an article where the developers of the Infinity Blade title for iOS and the upcoming sequel, Infinity Blade 2, talk about Android and why the series won't come to Android, at least for now citing piracy issues as the only real reason. While piracy happens everywhere, we believe there is more to this than simple piracy concerns. Welcome to our new weekly series that will be starting today and will come out each Friday called From The Sack. Now before your minds go into the gutter, I'm talking about a mail sack or bag. In this series we will compile all the questions we are asked or interesting emails we get throughout the week and recap them here. |
