iKOiD bundle #19: Medieval Talisman Now Available

The new iKOiD bundle is here everyone, bringing you a nice 4-pack of sweet games at low Price!

For the four of you that are unfamiliar with iKOiD, here’s the deal – imagine Humble Bundle in its early days, but all about Android…that’s it. DRM-free games, no ads, low price. Their bundles are released every two weeks and contain usually around 4-5 games with a similar theme or from the same genre.

Their 19th bundle dubbed Medieval Talisman was released a week ago, featuring Bridge Constructor – Medieval, Planet Wars, Sin Manager and Talisman Prologue, all for the low price of just $2 (that’s $0.50 per game!). Let’s have a quick look at the individual games:

Bridge Constructor: Medieval – if you played the original Bridge Constructor, it’s pretty much the same thing, except with a different theme. You build bridges…and caravans go through them. You’ll of course also have to provide some protection from the standard hazards you encounter when going through a bridge in the medieval times, like enemy troops and cannon/catapult fire. Personally not my type of game, but I can see why people enjoyed the original so much.

Planet Wars – this one really reminds me of a PC game I played a few years back whose name I can’t remember. The idea is simple – you have a planet that generates ships, you send those ships to take over other planets or fight the enemy ships that want the same thing. It seems fun but maybe it’s because of the presentation, I personally did not enjoy it that much. It’s not that it’s bad, I’ve just seen others that do it better. (note to the developers: update the trailer guys, some sound would be good to have)

Sin Manager – I’d personally call it a color-match game. Basically, you get a soul with one or more colors, and you drag it to the appropriate color “box” and await for it to do whatever it is it’s doing there, then after all its sins are gone, you drag it to heaven, but if you happen to be too slow, it gets bored and goes to hell (don’t we all go to hell when we’re bored?). The main objective seems to be a high-score (or “survival” if you prefer). While it might seem like a basic idea, it gets incredibly hectic even on easy mode, since you can’t put two souls in the same place, so you’ll need quick on-the-fly thinking to make sure you can get that high-score going.

Talisman: Prologue – without question the highlight of this pack, Talisman: Prologue is what I’d call a demo of the Talisman digital port. To avoid any confusion, this is not a demo, but I would not call this a complete Talisman game, as it does not offer any multiplayer options (vs. Human or vs. AI), however, if you’re new to the game, you’ll still be able to enjoy it and learn the game rules in the process. The game centers around throwing dice and moving on a board full of random encounters, defeating monsters or collecting relics and followers. In the case of Prologue, you’ll be alone on the board with a specific quest you need to complete. This would’ve still be quite fun, if it wasn’t for the fact that there is no Google Play Games integration, so you can’t even share your adventures with your friends. Still, even without the multiplayer, it’s worth checking out if you like board games.

That’s all I have to say about the games in this one without going into a full review for each. How about you? Did you grab a copy? Which one is your highlight from the pack? Feel free to leave your answers in the comments below! Haven’t bought a copy yet? Drop by iKoid and grab one, it’s cheaper than a McDonalds cheeseburger!
