Another 3rd party app store is set to launch very soon called MobileApps.com and while another 3rd party app store is nothing new these days, the cut in profits they are offering developers is. Trying to garner the reputation of the Robin Hood for mobile developers, MobileApps.com will be offering a 95% profit cut for developers to take.
This means that MobileApps.com will only take 5% of every paid download which will greatly increase the margin of profit for developers. This particular 3rd party app store will cater to both iOS and Android developers with iOS being done through a referral link system while Android developers will have their products directly on the site.
The 5% the site will take will be used to cover Credit Card transaction fees and other basic administrative fees the company will be charged.
Hopefully this works out for the better as this sort of commission model has been tried before with another 3rd party app store called SlideME which had to raise the cut they took to help cover costs that were a lot higher than expected. MobileApps.com is not fully launched just yet but developers are encouraged to head over there now and register their apps so they are visible at launch time.
