You may not have heard of MocoSpace but they have been around since before Zynga making HTML 5 social games that are cross-platform compatible. They don't even release their mobile games onto any mobile marketplaces but due to their success, specifically with Stage Hero, MocoSpace plans to double their releases.

Stage Hero is a social game where you can play solo gigs or group up with other people and play as a band. Sort of like Rock Band but browser-based and more RPG-style, sort of like Mafia Wars. As with all social games, you also have the option of improving your character faster by purchasing in-game items using Moco Gold, the in-game currency.

Right now Stage Hero is boasting 350,000 active users per month across Android, iOS and mobile browser users and because of this success, MocoSpace is planning to double the amount of games they had slated for release in 2011. What does this mean for everyone? More mobile social gaming of course! Great news if you like these types of games whether you enjoy Farmville type of gaming or more along the lines of Stage Hero.

You can check out the full press release below. We will see if we can dig up some information on what games they are planning to release in 2011. If you are interested in playing Stage Hero or any other MocoSpace game on your Android device, just head over to their site and download the game you want!

MocoSpace’s Mobile Browser-Based Social Game “Stage Hero” Rocks Out with 350,000 monthly active users in first month
MocoSpace’s second HTML5 mobile social game already hitting a high note

BOSTON – Feb 1, 2011 – MocoSpace, the largest entertainment destination on the mobile Internet, announces the second consecutive successful launch of an HTML5 game for the mobile browser on its MocoSpace Games Platform. Launched in December 2010, Stage Hero is already a hit, with over 350,000 monthly average users (MAU).  Session times for the game average over 4 minutes and players are averaging nearly 2.5 sessions per day.

In Stage Hero, players can choose to play gigs solo or jam with others. They can also keep track of their friends by selecting ‘My Groupies,’ and ‘See the Manager’ if they need more energy to play. Players advance as they play gigs and jam, on their way to finding fame and fortune. Players may also improve their game characters through spending Moco Gold, MocoSpace’s virtual currency.

MocoSpace is focused on smartphone browser-based gaming, setting it apart from many other mobile gaming companies who focus on downloadable mobile apps. By building games on the mobile browser, developers can reach more players’ social graph and allow games to gain popularity on a wider range of mobile devices.

Street Wars, the company’s first mobile social game, launched in October 2010 and continues to be popular, with over 372,000 MAUs.  MocoSpace’s 16 million registered users are converting monthly into active social game players, and MocoSpace plans to release additional game titles on its platform throughout 2011.

“The revenue and popularity of our games business has exceeded our initial expectations, compelling us to scale our title catalog for 2011 and double the number of titles we plan to launch,” states MocoSpace CEO Justin Siegel. “We’ve seen a strong demand from members and new users, as people are finding that games are a fun way to meet people and have fun on their phone.”

Developers and publishers looking to distribute html5 mobile browser-based games may contact MocoSpace at games@corp.mocospace.com
