There has been a lot of hype around Gameloft's temporarily exclusive Xperia Play game called Backstab lately. Well for all of you lucky Xperia Play owners, the wait is no more. As mentioned last week, the game was set to be released today and indeed it was. You can now purchase Backstab for your Xperia Play.

Backstab is an Assassin's Creed-style game but set in the Caribbean and with pirates and British soldiers. Sort of a mesh between Assassin's Creed and Pirate of the Caribbean. It features an open world so you can wander around to your heart's content or just play the game from start to finish and not worry about any of the side quests or general trouble you can get into wandering around.

Backstab also features some pretty solid graphics and dynamic combat where you will be able to make counter-attacks if you're good enough. This is something that the Xperia Play controls will really help out with. While the game is currently exclusive to the Xperia Play, it will only be so for a short amount of time, roughly a month. After that, it'll be made available to other supported Android devices.

You can pick Backstab up right now on your Xperia Play for about $5.00. It isn't available on the Gameloft webstore nor the Android Market so we are guessing it is through Gameloft Live.
