One game we have been eagerly waiting for from War Drum Studios has been their upcoming RTS (Real-time strategy) game called History: Great Battles Medieval. We knew it was coming this month and now the wait is officially over. It is now available on the Android Market so you can get your RTS fix.

History: Great Battle Medieval is a huge 3D RTS game for Tegra 2 Android devices that featuring some great graphics, highly detailed gameplay and unique animations on a per troop basis. That means that your unit of Archers will actually have asynchronous animations meaning while one archer is firing, another could be loading up an arrow and yet another getting stabbed in the face. The way this is designed means that on your Tegra 2 Android device, you'll be able to see somewhere between 600-800 units animated independently.

Features:

  • Free form quest map that allows players to decide when and where to fight within a historical framework.
  • More than 20 different units all accurately researched and carefully modeled in amazing detail.
  • Almost infinite number of equipment combinations.
  • Specialise your squads with over 100 unique skills.
  • Play as the English under the Black Prince or the French under Joan of Arc.
  • Innovative Battle Card system that gives bonuses and penalties in battle.
  • The most detailed and realistic medieval combat model ever created.
  • Story movies created from hundreds of hours of the TV channel HISTORY™ library combined with in game engine footage.

Strategy is key in this game as well. You won't necessarily be able to just rush the enemy on every map. It  also has RPG features as well so as you progress through the game you'll be leveling up units, gaining new abilities and of course, new equipment. While you'll be able to enjoy this game on your Tegra 2 phone, you'll definitely want to grab it if you have a dual-core tablet to play on.

You can pick History: Great Battles Medieval up off the Android Market for $6.99 and through Tegra Zone as well. Definitely worth it if you are an RTS fan. Full review coming shortly!
