EA has re-launched their Origin website and with the new features looks to take on Steam at their own game. So what does this have to do with us? The new Origin will also be focusing on mobile gaming as well which includes Android. The site now acts just like Steam does for PC/console gamers.

We already know Steam themselves are working on possibly bringing their service to Android and it looks like EA is wanting to get a head start as they will be in direct competition to Steam. Origin will eventually be bringing Steam-style purchasing to mobile gaming. You will be able to buy and download games to your phone or tablet from EA and 'partners' just like you would using Steam on your PC. That isn't all of it though!

EA will also be bringing in a slew of social features that will be mobile focused as well. You will be able to keep track of friends through a friends list in your player profile which will also be new. You will also be able to see what your friends are playing and on what system via a cross-platform feed. Of course there will be the standard feature of comparing highscores with your friends as well. Currently in beta form, Origin right now is geared towards the Pc/Console gaming market but these mobile features will be landing on the site soon as well.

It will be interesting to see how a service like this takes off with Android gamers.
