Fieldrunners HD now available on the Amazon App Store and the Android Market.

Fieldrunners HD is a visually stunning tower defense game from our friends over at Subatomic Studios. It has been anticipated that a port would arrive for awhile now and the wait is finally over. Today you can pick up Fieldrunners HD off the Amazon App Store for free. Global users you are not left out either.

While this game has been available for other platforms for some time now including iOS, the Android version is actually updated and exclusive only to the Android platform. Other platforms, such as iOS, will not get updated HD graphics like the Android version is coming with.

One of the great features is the fact that there will be DLC (downloadable content) that will bring more maps and features as they create them. This means that this game, unlike a lot of tower defense games, won't get stale after you complete it. It also helps that it already has a staggering 400 levels to go through.

Originally, Fieldrunners HD was set to release on the Android Market for free for the first 24hrs but due to the limitation of the Android Market regarding free game releases, this wasn't able to happen. This is because Subatomic Studios only wanted to have it free for one day to celebrate the release and then bump it up to full price. Unfortunately the Android Market doesn't allow this as once you release a game for free, it stays free.

After that they went with Amazon App Store to get it out to at least the US residents for free but were tied in with a two week exclusive time frame. Global users were not so happy about this but thanks to a lot of hard work between Amazon, Google and Subatomic Studios, they managed to get past the two week exclusive time period. This is where global users benefit because not only is the game available on the Android Market today as well, it is only $1.00 for the first 24 hours. Still a great deal for a great game!

Subatomic Studios has mentioned that full tablet support will be coming soon which is good news for all you tablet gamers out there
