Gameloft sure didn't waste any time when it comes to the 3D gaming on Android phones with their announcement today that, at launch time for the LG Optimus 3D, they will have 17 3D-enabled games ready for gamers to dig into. That's a pretty solid start for not only the Optimus 3D but a couple of other 3D phones that are gearing up for release.

Up until recently, the whole 3D feature for smartphones seemed more of a gimmick than anything else. Sharp was the first company to introduce the whole 3D effect to smartphones with their Galapagos phones back during CES 2011. The effect was alright but left a bit to be desired in terms of great 3D quality. Now with the LG Optimus 3D coming out, the Evo 3D, Motorola's upcoming 3D phone and Sharp preparing another entry into the 3D phone arena, the gimmick is a lot less gimmicky.

The whole 3D effect has been worked on and the quality seems to have improved which will lead to a much more enjoyable experience in terms of gaming. It also helps that all these phones have big screens. When it comes to actual 3D-enabled games though, there are only a few titles available. Gameloft is determined to change that and be one of the first companies to have a strong 3D line-up of games.

Not only will there be 17 titles from Gameloft that will be 3D-enabled at the time of the LG Optimus 3D's launch, the Optimus 3D will also come with Asphalt 6, N.O.V.A and Let's Golf 2! pre-installed onto every single Optimus 3D that is sold.
