Appscribe game and app subscription service launching in September

A new subscription-based service called Appscribe will be coming to Android this September. What Appscribe does is allow users to subscribe to their service which, according to them, will cost roughly around the same price as purchasing one game a month off the Android Market.

In return for paying this subscription fee, you will have a tailored selection of games and apps pushed to you for you to considering download and play for a month. Depending on the package you subscribe to, you will have either 5 or 8 slots which you can fill from the Appscribe catalog each month whether it's a game or an app. Your tailored selection of apps and games will be shown to you any time you want with new suggestions as well as more titles are added to their catalog. Once you register you will be asked to fill out a survey which is then used to filter the selection of apps and games to your specific taste.

When it comes to developers making money, it will depends on how popular the app or game is from that developer. According to some figures from Appscribe, with a userbase of 100,000 and a catalog of 50 titles, each title has a one in ten chance to make $3000 if they last for a full month. Less popular games that don't last a month on devices will make less. It basically breaks down to something along the lines of $0.30 per install per month. So the figure that Appscribe has come up with the one in ten chance of making $3000 a month is based off an almost perfect scenario.

Developers participating in Appscribe will benefit from the increased exposure and its innovative revenue model. Appscribe offers developers multiple ways to generate revenue from their Android apps. They can earn recurring monthly income as well as commissions for subscribers that sign up for Appscribe through free or trial versions of their apps. - Appscribe

Appscribe will initially launch for US Android users only first and developers will be paid via PayPal. This might be good for developers looking to make an extra stream of revenue but considering the odds this doesn't look like something a developer should rely on solely. Now the real question is, would you use a service like this?
