[Updated] Asphalt 6: Adrenaline WCG Edition free for Samsung Galaxy S II users

Some news is circulating right now that Gameloft's Asphalt 6: Adrenaline racing game is available for free right now on select devices, specifically the Samsung Galaxy S 2. We are not entirely sure if this is a limited time offer or what exactly is going on but good news if you own one of these devices.

Asphalt 6: Adrenaline is the latest installment in their Asphalt racing series of games. So far it is also the best installment in the Asphalt series of games and why it is free for only a couple of devices is still a mystery to us. What we do know is that word is going around that if you own a SGS2 Android phone and you head over to the Samsung Apps store, you should be able to download the Asphalt 6: Adrenaline game. Not only that though, it is the WCG (World Cyber Games) version with the WCG car available to drive.

Samsung is a big sponsor over at WCG so it makes sense that the WCG version is available for free, regardless if it's a limited time offer or not, for Samsung devices or at least the SGS2. However, the Sony Ericsson is a major sponsor over at MLG (Major League Gaming) so why it is available for the Xperia Play for free is an interesting mystery. Until we get confirmation that it is available for the Xperia Play as well, consider it not.

Update Sept. 6th, 2011 9:51am: We were just told that this will only be free for the first 300,000 people who download it. However, you have to be able to download it in the first place which seems to be difficult as seen in the comments below. Thanks to Reeve Luiz for the heads up!
