It seems this is a busy week for Lodsys as more and more developers are coming out to reveal that they have received the patent infringement welcome package from Lodsys over the last couple of days. Newest one to add to the list is Micabyte and their game Pirates and Traders.
Following the usual reason for receiving one of these packages, Lodsys is claiming that Micabyte is infringing on some of their patents, specifically the patent which deals with offering a button in-game which allows for the purchase of a full version of said game from within the lite version.
Right now Micabyte is considering either pulling the lite version from the US Android Market and replacing it with a new version which has the in-game button removed or just completely removing the lite version altogether. This isn't the first time a developer has removed their game from the US Android Market and it probably won't be the last.
This is just the latest addition to what is starting to look like a string of new Android developers who are receiving this patent infringement package over the past couple of days. Yesterday the developer of the Tiny Wings clone on Android, Dillo Hills, received this package as well along with other developers. Hopefully Google, who does plan to do something about this apparently, actually goes ahead and deals with this issue sooner than later.
Thanks to Adam for the heads up!
