Whether you like cats or not, there is a great ragdoll physics-based platformer available on the Android Market called Flickitty by Randall Schleufer. Originally an iOS title, Randall brought this interesting little game over to Android back in August.

In Flickitty, you control a rather large headed cat where each stage allows you to enjoy open-ended gameplay in a world full of ragdoll physics. You will have over 20 different missions to complete throughout all the areas available for you to play.

Features:

  • Ragdoll physics platformer with swipe controls.
  • Open-ended gameplay in a physics world.
  • Simple swipe controls and drag-drop gameplay.
  • 5 different regions with 3 different gravities.
  • Collect over 20 hats for your character to wear.
  • 20 different missions.
  • In-game map editor.

The animation in Flickitty and the overall atmosphere in the game is actually pretty entertaining but the gameplay is what is really unique about it. You can do things like pick up objects and drop them which sometimes also reveals things you can collect. Speaking of collecting things, Flickitty does offer some character customization with the use of collecting different hats for your little cat to wear on his big head. You can get these different hats by completing different tasks.

While the graphics are fun and enjoyable, it really is the unique style of physics gameplay that makes this a pretty interesting game to play. All your controls are swipe gestures which you use to control your cat. Using these same swipe gestures you can move objects, dodge obstacles and various other actions all while your cat is moving. The ragdoll physics are rather well done as well and overall this is a game you can sit down and play in short bursts or for long periods of time. This is especially true since you can make your own levels in the game with the map editor.

You can pick up Flickitty off the Android Market for $0.99. To see the game in action, check out the trailer below. If you know of a great hidden gem game that you think we should take a look at, let us know about it!

Thanks to George for the heads up.
