Battle of the Heavyweights: Dragons vs. Unicorns coming soon

New game development studio, Digital Harmony Games, has announced what their first title they plan to release on multiple platforms will be. Called Dragons vs. Unicorns, it will pit both species against each other in a battle for supremacy which has been a long time coming we think.

According to the back story for this upcoming game, the Dragons have been looking down on all the creatures in the world, especially the Unicorns, mostly due from the fact they love candy, glitter, rainbows and things of that nature. So what would any self-respecting species of Dragon do when they hate something? They try to kill them all!

Dragons vs. Unicorns will be an multipllayer action game where player will pick a side, whether it's the Dragons or the Unicorns, and will battle it out with the opposing faction. In order to win you have to destory your enemy's tower. While you help defend your side of the faction you will also be sending out minions, lobbing objects, casting abilities and more in order to destroy the opposing factions tower. While the game is centered around PvP gameplay against other people, there is a single player mode as well.

Digital Harmony Games is really putting a lot of features into this game, especially since it will be cross-platform compatible with iOS, PC and Mac versions as well. This means you will have plenty of people to fight across all platforms on your Android device. Aside from that though there will be a VS Store, Real-time game lobby, persistent player data, social connectivity and a lot more according to Digital Harmony Games.

So when does this heavyweight battle begin? Dragons vs Unicorns is slated for release in early 2012 so we still have a little bit of a wait before we can play this game. The concept does sound good though so we will definitely try to nab a copy as soon as we can and try it out. It is planned to be shown off at GDC Online 2011 so hopefully some footage will come out. Full press release below for your reading pleasure.

For centuries, the antiquated Dragons have looked down upon all creatures-most of all the Unicorns.  Dragons, disgusted by the Unicorns' love of glitter, candy, and rainbows, waged war on Unicorns which launched an all out battle for supremacy.  Featuring a fantasy driven landscape, both mythical creatures will fight to destroy their opponent's tower using a variety of awesome abilities.  Players will help their side defend their tower as they send in minions, lob objects, cast abilities and so much more in this action-packed combat multiplayer game.

"Dragons vs. Unicorns is the perfect game for our first release because it's got a great art style and offers an exciting gameplay experience for anyone who picks it up," said Keren Kang, COO of Digital Harmony Games. "Creating a seamless cross-platform connective experience is quite important, and part of that experience is to ensure that there will be a multiplayer game available 24/7.  With our cross-platform connective technology, players will always find a game against an iOS, Android, or web opponent."

Dragons vs. Unicorns offers an immersive experience with a simple and intuitive control scheme and easy click and gesture based control.
PVP fans will find dynamic physics with realistic damage in the sprite filled, sparkly rainbow and molten lava driven world.  Single player mode, VS store, real time lobby, persistent player data, social connectivity and so much more will await players in this unique and magical world of Dragons and Unicorns.
