Rockstar Games getting more into mobile, Grand Theft Auto 3 announced for Android

While news of the original Max Payne from Rockstar Games coming to Android was pretty awesome in itself, today they have announced another title that will be making it's way to the mobile gaming scene. Grand Theft Auto 3 will be coming to select Android devices soon.

That's right. Everyone's favorite series of games is going to have one of it's installments on Android where you will be able to steal cars, pick up hookers, then rob them to get your money back and all the other good stuff found in the original GTA 3 for other platforms. This is all to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the release of GTA3. The catch though is that it will only be available for select Android devices:

  • Android Phones: Droid X2, HTC Evo 2, LG Optimus 2X, Motorola Atrix, Samsung Galaxy S2
  • Android Tablets: Acer Iconia, Asus Eee Pad, Motorola Xoom, Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1

Currently the mobile version of Grand Theft Auto 3 happens to be on display as a playable demo at the New York Comic Con so if anyone happens to be attending that, definitely get us some footage on video because we would love to see how this will look on mobile. Unfortunately there is no exact date or pricing mentioned just yet but the fact there is a playable version at the New York Comic Con could mean it's release isn't too far off.

Thanks to Frank over at AndroidNext.de for the heads up!
