A new Arkanoid-style game has recently landed on the Android Market from developers AGENDA Co called BlockRush. They are describing this as an "aggressive" style of brick breaker so of course our interesting was sparked and we had to check it out. It's pretty interesting actually.

In BlockRush you are presented with blocks that appear from all angles and it's your job to destroy as many of those block as you can before the time runs out. Just like most block/brick breaking games, you are able to nab power-ups along the way to help you out. What is different though is that you don't have the usual 'paddle' object to bounce the ball with. Instead you have to continuously tap the ball to make it go and depending on the side you tap on, that's the direction it will go.

BlockRush Features:

  • Gimmicks to make your game play fun and challenging
  • Power-ups to change the tide of battle
  • Social Gaming Network "OpenFeint" to compete with your friends and players from all over the world
  • Facebook and Twitter connections
  • More intriguing stages and power-ups available on Android Market

BlockRush is pretty fast-paced and although it is a free download, there is an in-game store where you can buy more levels and power-ups. This is completely optional though as the game does come with quite a decent amount of levels to play through already and you can get power-ups while playing as well. BlockRush is available on the Android Market right now and when you load it up you will see ads but the good news is, the ads go away once you start playing a level so it won't get in the way of you playing the game. To see the game in action, check out the trailer below, complete with techno background music.
