New game shows up on Tegra Zone called Meltdown on Mars THD

There is a great looking new game that has just appeared on nVidia's Tegra Zone called Meltdown on Mars THD. This is a mix of top-down action gaming and Tower Defense genres where you will have to defend your player using turrets and other goodies that you would find in a Tower Defense game.

Think of Meltdown on Mars THD as a game similar to Orcs Must Die! in that you set up your defenses, whether they are different types of turrets or barricades, but you will also be controlling your main character as well and using his weapons to try and stop the hordes of aliens. Another aspect that is similar to tower defense games is that the aliens come in waves, with each wave getting harder and harder to survive.

Meltdown on Mars THD Features:

  • NVIDIA Tegra Enhancements: Realistic particle effects, real-time lighting.
  • Highly-detailed enemies and environments
  • Populary tower-defense style game meets action shooter.

Everything is in a top-down perspective and the visuals look pretty damn impressive just in the screenshots alone. If you're a fan of games like Dungeon Defenders or Orcs Must Die! than this is right up your alley, just with a more futuristic theme instead of a fantasy one. No word just yet on pricing and as for a release date, it will be sometime in December 2011. We will see if we can't dig for some more information about this rather great looking game.
