Popular Flash game, Gibblets, getting a sequel for Android thanks to Herocraft

A rather popular Flash-based game called Gibblets will soon be appearing in a sequel, called Gibblets 2, thanks to Herocraft. While the original was built with Flash, the sequel will most likely not be. In Gibblets your job was to save people from being hanged by shooting some well aimed arrows to cut the ropes that were around their necks. Yes, that is somewhat morbid.

The sequel will bring the same style of gameplay where you'll have to save people from being hanged by shooting your arrows as accurately as possible to cut the ropes around their necks. You only have a certain amount of arrows per stage and so some shots will require you to cut multiple people down. If you fail at saving these ill-fated people, they get hanged. Of course if you happen to not be as good with a bow and arrow as you would like to be, you could end up shooting them instead anyways.

Gibblets 2 will come with 30 levels, at least at the time of it's release and the better you are at saving people, the higher your rank will be on the leader boards. Gibblets 2 is slated for release sometime in Q2 of 2012 and no pricing info has been release yet either. However, you can read the full press release below of any additional information.

THE ORIGINAL HIT GIBBETS 2 COMING TO MAJOR MOBILE PLATFORMS

November 28th 2011, Kaliningrad, Russia – HeroCraft announces the upcoming licensed game Gibbets 2. The game release is scheduled for Q2 2012.

HeroCraft are delighted to announce that our team is busy working on the original hit Gibbets 2. That is the sequel to Gibbets, a popular skill game where the player uses a bow and arrow to save the people being hanged. The Flash franchise Gibbets has been played over 250 million times. In fact, Gibbets was the original rope-shooting game. No wonder it has seen dozens of clones and spawned a whole genre since its release in 2009.

The fun of Gibbets continued with versions for iPhone and iPod Touch which generated 1.5 million downloads and appeared in the Top Paid Apps and Top Paid Games genre charts. This masterpiece of action gaming Gibbets 2 is making its way from PC so you can proceed to save men from the gallows on the move!

Gibbets 2 is a simplistic yet entertaining and exciting game. It will require skill to save multiple people from the noose. Shoot arrows from your bow at the hanging ropes before the victim runs out of breath! You have a limited number of arrows per level, and you must try to avoid hitting the poor victim. The game features easy to learn touch and drag controls, 30 levels, and online leaderboards. Gibbets 2 provides just the right mix of challenge and fun to make the game consistently enjoyable and playable over and over.

HeroCraft and the developer of the original Gibbets series Konstantin Boronenkov are excited about this partnership that once again broadens access to digital entertainment by offering a well-known casual shooter title to the Android, iOS, bada, Symbian and J2ME markets.
