[Updated] Bug or Bonus? A bunch of popular apps and games priced at $0.10 on the Android Market?

Posted by AndrewH in Game News on December 06, 2011

There is something strange going on with the Android Market these days. While a plethora of rumors are going around about an extended refund period (which is not true, it's still 15mins), now we are seeing a bunch of popular apps and games priced at a measly $0.10 including titles like Minecraft: Pocket Edition.

Whether this is a bug or some sort of massive sale going on, the fact that they are even showing as $0.10 is impressive since $0.99 is the lowest amount you can set something as price-wise on the Android Market. To test it out, I went ahead and purchased Great Little War Game, which happens to be priced at $0.10 right now and sure enough the receipt and everything came out to be only $0.10. Right now the running list of titles priced at $0.10 are:

There are probably others out there as well so if you spot any, leave a comment and we will add it to the list. Again we have no idea if this is a bug or just a massive sale Google is putting on but might as well take advantage of it. This $0.10 price tag shows up on both the website-based Android Market and the app as well. It really seems like more of a sale than a bug otherwise more, if not all, would be affected.

Update Dec. 6th, 2011 8:10am: Just a quick update as to what this is. It is actually a sale Google is putting on with some developers called "10 Days of Offers Top Premium Apps .10 Per App." If you clear the Cache on your market app, you will see a new banner at the top stating this. When you click on it, it will show you all the available for that day which will only cost $0.10.

Enjoy this massive sale! It looks like it'll be 10 different apps each day by the sounds of it. It also has the heading "10 Billion Promo" when looking at the list. Thanks to Dustin Maki in the comments for the heads up!
