Steampunk themed strategy game Gaslight finally released for Android

Way back in the beginning of October we announced that PixoFactor, developers behind the Zorro game, were in the process of developing a Steampunk themed strategy game called Gaslight. Well it seems as though work is finally done on it and it's finally available on the Android Market.

Gaslight is set in a world of warring clans called Eastland where much of the technology in the world is run on Æther crystals. As one might except, everyone wants as much of these as possible so they can have better weapons and war machines in order to take more control over the world and, in the process, more Æther crystals. You will have to build up your empire, wage war against other clans to gather more resources, explore the world and eventually, if all goes well, reign supreme in Eastland.

Gaslight Features:

  • Build Your City: Assemble and maintain your civilization, advance its technology, and prepare your armies for battle.
  • Battle Enemy Armies: Engage in war with troops by strategically controlling your military, using powerful booster technology to improve and advance your army.
  • Manage Resources: Æther is used to build and upgrade technology; Gold is used to maintain the city and pay the army; Population growth measures how advanced and evolved your city has become.

Gaslight is very much like an RTS (real-time strategy) game but with a Steampunk theme to it. Visually the game looks great and really does have a good solid grasp on the whole Steampunk culture. The one downside to this game is that it incorporates TapJoy into it which allows players to get extra resources through the use of the TapJoy system (downloading other games in the TapJoy network). This does give some players an unfair advantage over those who don't bother doing this.

If you can ignore the ads from TapJoy, it's actually a really well made game. I would hope the developers will eventually come out with a paid version that does not contain the TapJoy system but for now you can download Gaslight off the Android Market for free.
